can i sell home as short sale and not get taxed on forgiven debt?

I lived in the home for 2 years and then rented it out for over a year now. Can I still claim this home as my principal residence so that if I sell as s short sale, I don’t have to pay taxes on forgiven debt?

I can’t afford my mortgage payments any longer due to my financial difficulties. I don’t have any late payments yet. Didn’t get any favorable answer from bank…property is not worth what is still owed on it…my friend said I have go for a quick sale…. I don’t know how it works… how do I go for quick sale. What are the first steps, I have to take…

Are we being robbed by quick house sale company?

Hi, Can any one tell us if Valuation Surveyors all follow the same guidelines?
We’ve had a Surveyors Valuation done and an Estate Agents Valuation which have both come back at the same price, we were going to sell to a quick sale company but I think we are being lied to, at first we were told by them that all Surveyors Valuations would be the same as they had to follow the same guidelines, now when its getting close to us signing their forms they are telling us that not all Surveyors value at the same price and they might get a lower value (the figure they mentioned was £3000 lower than ours), so I suppose the queston I’m asking is; Are we just about to be robbed if we sign with this company?
(ps, we were willing to accept their 15% discounted offer but think they are trying to get more discount out of us by under cutting us in a valuation.)

How long to sell house after buying new one?

I have purchased a new house and will be moving in a month. I have lived in my current primary residence for 5 years. This house is not ready to sell so the question is how long do I have to fix it up and move it on before capital gains tax is an issue?
Also would having my child live in the house while fixing it be an issue? we are willing to consider any arrangement as money is not currently my main concern so rent/board/stay without cost are all ok. The least complex solution is preferable.
Thanks for any help, this is the first house I have sold.

Just adding, my son is currently studying so will not be able to make the move for another 6 to 12 months. Staying in our current house isnt essential after a certain time however I am not ready to sell this house yet as it requires some work.

Anybody used quick sale co’s for house selling that operate on franchise basis?

Has anybody sold their home to a quick sale company that operates on a franchise basis? So you are not actually selling to a company as such but to an Associate of that Company? would appreciate any feedback both positive and negative, thanks. Any pitfalls to look out for? Warnings? Advice? help?

I am trying to sell my house by owner and pretty much understand the advertising part of selling but am wondering if someone could provide a step by step instruction of what to do once an offer is made. I have downloaded the following forms: counter offer, seller’s disclosure, purchase and sales agreement
At what point do you collect earnest money (who collects this money?) and what forms are necessary to have filled out before going to the Real Estate attorney? Thanks in advance!

My husband and I are looking for a quick way to get out of our house. Not really wanting to go through the trouble of fixing it up to show buyers and go through the selling process. Saw an ad on tv for company that buys houses. Are these for real or just another scam? Any advice anyways?
