Is it better to rent out a house or a condo?
ByI want to buy a property in the metro area of Detroit, Michigan to rent it out.
Houses and condos sell for less than $10,000.
Houses are bigger, need more maintenance from my side, and there is less surveilance.
Condos are smaller, need less maintenance from my side but they have association fees.
So what is better?

It really depends on what you want. I thought I would like the “maintenance free” side of the condos and the affordability, until the “association” got really controlling. Now i own my own property and make my own rules, I like that better. Also, usually in a condo situation you are sharing a small space with lots of people, and I just did not like to be that crowded. I think you could get a smaller house for about the same amount and the “ground maintenance” is really not much work. Good luck!
