How do I find a house to rent?
ByI can only find magazines with houses for sale or apartments for rent but no rent houses. And when I look online I can only find one or two in the area I’m looking. What’s a good place to find listings?

try your local newspaper or realtor office

Check out craigslist.org. To look for a particular city or metropolitan on craigslist, do a search on Yahoo or Google, etc., and put in the city & craigslist.org.
For instance, I’d do a search for Denver, Colorado like this:
craigslist.org Denver
You should get to the craigslist you’re looking for.
I like craigslist because then I know the landlord/company is up-to-date and internet savvy. They are usually better at listing the price, too, in my experience.
Good luck!

Most investors are too cheap to advertise in the paper (and wonder why their houses stay vacant for so long). If you are looking to rent to own a house, look in the “for sale” section for houses. (try your local paper). It will usually say something like “buy or rent-to-own”. If you just want to rent the property and have no intention of buying it, most investors are not going to be interested as they put a lot of money into the houses with the intention to sell it. If you are in the Carolinas, I have a list of properties I could send you that are rent-to-own. Please e-mail me at my work address –
Also, try these sites:
rent.com
apartments.com
fsbo.com
google the word “fsbo” or “for sale by owner”
and your local real estate companies usually will have a list of properties for rent that they might manage
go to and look for “property managers” and then type in your city and state

Call a few local Real Estate Companies and tell the secretary you are looking for a Realtor that handles rentals. They will fing you a good place and they charge you NOTHING. The landlord pays them. Let them do the work for you! Good luck. A few other free websites..kijiji.com, backpages.com and myspace.com has a large classified section!
