How do I get the house I rent to stay warm?

I rent a house so there isn’t much I can do. It has hard wood floors, an is an OLD house, so I guess that there isn’t very much insulation in it. Can some one please tell me the cheapest way to get my house to stay warm. An don’t say buy your own home cuz where I live the houses are to high at the moment to buy.

I cant afford to buy bigger house, but need more room for growing family. Only thought is to rent my house out and rent a bigger house. Have heard there is benifits of being able to claim on renovations to my house when its rented. But what about it also being another income. Would i really be better off? dont know who to ask??

upstairs tenants do,my brother is allowing them to do as they please ,and use all our facilities,washer,dryer,as well as the use of the fusebox,they make noise at all hours of the day ( especially at night ) my 91 yr old mother has had brain surgery and is home recuperating,she needs quiet,and all we get is NOISE.yesterday they cme downstairs and went into the garage and were fooling around with the fusebox flipping all the tabs,then i assume they fixed their problem,but no they came back down here and went tab flipping again,i mean isnt this using my brother? they pay a good rent to my brother which is true,but that doesnt give them the right to wipe their feet in face.my brother doesnt care what they do,but i do,i think theyre milking him,and i think it rude,whats your opinion.

We are looking to refinance our mortgage. We had a bad experience with a mortgage broker the first time around. Aside from the BBB, are there any websites where I can find others’ opinions/experiences with mortgage companies?
Having received some offers already, there are a few which look too good to be true. The majority of the offers so far are at the same, somewhat higher rate (which seems to be the normal rate for our area). I just want to do some background research on the few companies that are offering the lower rates before we accept one of them.

My 5-1 ARM adjusted last year and went to 6.25%. It will adjust again this November. Are mortgage rates based on the feds fund rate? Or something else? How can I estimate what my new rate will be?
